As part of Hyatt Community Grants, a philanthropic program that empowers Hyatt associates to guide charitable giving, Hyatt Regency Cambridge awarded Cambridge Community Services (CCS) with a significant grant to further the organization’s efforts in Economic Development & Investment within the community. On Friday, December 9, representatives from the Hyatt Regency Cambridge came to CCS to present members of the CCS board staff with a copy of the check.

Hyatt Community Grants encourages hotels around the world to identify and nominate local nonprofits for funding consideration through Hyatt Hotels Foundation.  The program builds on Hyatt’s belief that no one better understands a community’s most pressing issues – and their solutions – that those that live and work there.  All participating nonprofits must have a significant local presence and must support one of Hyatt’s four philanthropic pillars – Environmental Sustainability, Education & Personal Advancement, Economic Development & Investment, or Health & Wellness.

“We are honored to support Cambridge Community Services and their valuable contributions to our community,” said Stacey Nichols, general manager at Hyatt Regency Cambridge. “It is a top priority for us to be active participants in our area, and Hyatt Community Grants gives us the great opportunity to give back to the local organizations that do so much for our city.”

“We are very honored by the grant, and thankful that the Hyatt Regency Cambridge nominated CCS for this generous donation,” said Faye Arrington, board director at CCS.  “Working with local businesses to improve community outcomes is a win for everyone, and we deeply appreciate Hyatt’s engagement.  This grant will go a long way in helping us run a variety of comprehensive programs and services designed to offer young people individual guidance from caring adults, intensive academic assistance, and exposure to a wide variety of career options, and access to higher education opportunities.”

Funding for this program is provided by Hyatt Hotels Foundation, a donor advised fund created in conjunction with the National Philanthropic Trust. In 2011, Hyatt Regency Cambridge will be among 27 Hyatt properties from around the world that will award grants to nonprofits in their local communities. Since the program’s inception in 2008, Hyatt hotels have awarded over US$1,054,000 to nonprofit organizations in 84 communities and 30 countries around the world.

Hyatt Community Grants is a key component of Hyatt Thrive, the company’s global corporate responsibility program.  Hyatt Thrive is designed to help make the communities in which Hyatt operates places that associates are proud to work, guests want to visit, neighbors want to live and hotel owners want to invest. Hyatt Thrive harnesses the power of more than 85,000 Hyatt associates at over 450 properties around the world, to focus on positive local efforts that create a significant global impact.
