Mentor
Job
Description: Becoming a Mentor is a terrific way to
support young women in your community! Mentors serve
as advisors, role models, career and educational guides,
and trusted friends…every relationship is a little bit
different. Mentors have a flexible schedule
and will meet with their “mentees” every week or so.
CAP also organizes occasional group outings for all
Mentors and Mentees. Mentors are expected to make at
least a one-year commitment to the program, and will
attend a comprehensive training which includes topics such
as adolescent development, communication skills, and
cross-cultural issues. Training sessions are
interactive and dynamic, and will take place in
Winter/Spring 2008.
Tutor
Job
Description: Tutoring offers adult women the chance
to provide girls with academic support and act as positive
female role models. Tutors meet with students once a
week to provide help with one or more academic subjects,
and/or test preparation. Tutors must be able to
commit to 60-90 minutes at the same time each week (Mon
and/or Wed evenings, approximately 5:30-7:00 PM).
Tutors may start this fall or in the spring semester
(January 2008). Tutors will
attend an Orientation Session and Tutor Training prior to
being matched with program students.
